INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY
In psychotherapy, we will collaborate to explore and understand your concerns in detail. This process involves focused listening as you try to express yourself as freely as possible Together we will explore how old ways of being continue to influence your current life in ways that prevent change and growth. This process increases a sense of self-insight and understanding and helps to open up new ways of relating to yourself and others. This process can also help to alleviate distressing psychological symptoms and offer new ways of coping. I work primarily from a psychodynamic perspective, but also incorporate cognitive-behavioral strategies as needed. My work with patients is flexible, warm and supportive. I offer psychotherapy to adolescents and adults.
COUPLES PSYCHOTHERAPY
In couple’s therapy, we will work to understand the history of the current concerns for each partner while also noticing together ways that troubling dynamics occur during counseling sessions in real time. I use the research and exercises developed by the Gottmans to help couples improve communication, resolve conflict and experience greater intimacy.
PSYCHOANALYSIS
Psychoanalysis is a type of psychotherapy that allows for the most in depth exploration of your current concerns. In psychoanalysis, we meet up to four times a week. This frequency of meeting allows for space and time to deeply understand and address underlying patterns and behaviors that can be difficult to be aware of in every day life. We will develop an understanding of all parts of who you are in a way that creates an increased sense of control and fulfillment.
